Bexhill
Achievers
night a great
success

IT WAS just like a night at the Oscars. Bexhill achievers were recognised for their contributions to the community at a glitzy awards night held in
St Richards College on
Thursday 21st September.

The main hall had been transformed into a venue worthy of any red carpet award ceremony. An emotional and heart-warming night to remember came together through the efforts of many. From the caterers who provided the sit down meal at white linen clad tables to those who had decorated the hall with flowers and voile to create a spectacular ambiance.

The judges' choice of winners were warmly applauded and none more so than Emily Lawes (pictured) as the overall achiever of the year. Emily had already been named best sports personality but was selected as the top achiever among many worthy people.

The judges felt Emily fitted the criteria as not only has she overcome being born with only one hand, to compete in her chosen sport of dressage and show jumping, but she works in a special needs school, as well as being a wife and mother.

For full details and pictures of all the Bexhill
Achievers 2006 winners, see Friday's
Bexhill Observer (29th September).
